On Saturday, October 18, 2025, a powerful gathering took place at Monroe Park. Members of the Iota Phi Lambda Sorority, Inc. Gamma Delta Chapter, along with Pelatis, MOI, family, and friends, came together to participate in a breast cancer awareness walk. This event brought hundreds of attendees united by a shared purpose: to support breast cancer survivors, honor those lost, and raise funds for research and education. The day was filled with energy, hope, and a strong sense of community.

A Morning of Unity, Walking and Purpose
At 10:00 am, Gamma Delta Sorors, MOI, Pelati, and family members enthusiastically began the three-mile walk. The route was lively with conversations, laughter, and smiles. Walking alongside hundreds of others, the group enjoyed reconnecting with old friends and making new ones. The atmosphere was celebratory yet reflective, reminding everyone of the importance of health, wellness, and the power of coming together.
The walk was more than just a physical activity. It was a statement of solidarity from the Iota Phi Lambda Sorority, Inc,. Gamma Delta Chapter and their presence showed how African American women, especially those connected through sisterhood, can lead efforts in health advocacy and community support. This event highlighted the strength found in unity and the impact of collective action.
Surpassing Goals Through Community Support

The Gamma Delta chapter set a fundraising goal of $1,000 for the Making Strides Breast Cancer Walk. Thanks to the generosity of Sorors, family, friends, and supporters, the chapter raised $1,267. This achievement reflects the dedication of the Iota Phi Lambda Sorority, Inc. and its members to causes that affect their community deeply.
Raising funds is crucial for breast cancer research, education, and patient support. The Gamma Delta Chapter’s success shows how focused efforts and community involvement can make a real difference. It also encourages others to participate in future events, knowing their contributions have a meaningful impact.
Spreading Awareness Beyond the Walk
The Good Health WINs Committee of the Gamma Delta Chapter of Iota Phi Lambda, Sorority, Inc. boosted awareness efforts by assembling and distributing 100 informational goodie bags at the walk and another 100 at Sixth Street Baptist Church the next day. Each bag offered educational materials, encouragement, and resources to help women understand prevention, early detection, and the importance of regular screenings, aligning with Good Health WINs’ mission to expand access to reliable health information and improve health equity in our communities.'
This outreach strengthens awareness where it matters most. By partnering with trusted spaces like Sixth Street Baptist Church, the committee helps eliminate barriers, empowers women to make informed health decisions, and supports Good Health WINs’ broader goal of mobilizing community messengers who can share lifesaving information in clear, accessible ways.
